I am not one of you, but I suddenly get the appeal.

New moto guzzi v85. Because subtlety is for cowards and apparently not Italians

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

If you think this thing is ugly, I get that. But batshit crazy is what I like. Just happened to be on their website today. I think some big motorcycle show is this month anyway.

What a great concept, an off road bike with protruding mechanicals and prop drive.

A bike that’s easy to fix and can take a tumble? All bikes should be like this.

Isn’t shaft drive supposed to be more durable? and the cylinders sticking out isn’t that bad on these, that is right in front of your legs.

They’re heavy, expensive, and take a lot of power to turn. Sure, they last forever and will probably never break, but you’re sacrificing performance for that.

Yeah, and when you drop the bike on a rock and take a chunk off your cylinder head you’ll wonder why they designed it like that. At least put a bar around it or something.

This. Go look at the Afruca twin now that is a beauty.

You’ve seen a BMW R1200GS right? Granted yeah it needs crash bars, but all adventure bikes need that. These aren’t superbikes, they have big motors with power to spare and if you’re going cross-country (which these bikes excel at) its super nice to not have to worry about cleaning and lubing a chain every 500 miles

I wonder if any other company does something like that *cough* r 1200 gs *cough*

You can actually see some places in the frame (by the way, nice use of the engine as structural component) to attach a crash bar. Yet I find it funny that they released the pictures of the bike with underbelly protection and semi off road tires but no crash bar. This motorcycle it seams, just like GS’s here in Mexico, only for road use by people that will never take them off road (See Land Rover owners)

ADV’s are like the bike industry’s SUVs

You mean like the R1200 GSA haha?

Nobody is taking those off road. They’re two wheeled SUVs.

Yeah, I’ve always wanted a trail bike that weighed more than a Harley Davidson Sportster 1200C but with a 35" seat height. Bonus points for costing more than a new Buick Encore. Good job BMW.

I agree with you that those bikes are somewhat preposterous, but, hey... check out GS trophy.

They’re for going cross country on roads . You’d be better off on a sport tourer for what people do with these. Yeah, you can spend over $22k on a BMW R1200GSA but nobody who does will take it off road because it’s not good at that. It’s a problem inherent with most ADV bikes.

Just gotta wait a few months for your parts to come in because Moto Guzzi.

Don’t get me wrong, I completely agree with you, but it’s been proven that they can do those things. I wish they’d ditch the offroad pretensions and just make touring bikes.

I mean, a good rider can do a lot of things on any bike, and BMW has very good riders advertising those colossal things.
